Kenzo has announced that it will present a co-ed catwalk show featuring both its men’s and women’s collections for autumn/winter 2019 together during Paris Men’s Fashion Week in January.

The combined catwalk show will close Paris Men’s Fashion Week and take place just before the start of Paris Couture Week on January 22. This move will see Kenzo’s main collections moving from showing its women’s collections in March and September to combined showcases in January and June.

However, the Paris-based LVMH-owned brand, headed up by creative directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, have stated that they will continue to maintain its presence during the fashion weeks in March and September with what it is describing as “surprising and present unexpected special projects, collections, and events entitled Kenzo ‘Memento’”.

This move follows on from the success of its combined men’s and women’s collection on the catwalk in June 2019 .

The new format is similar to New York-based Public School, which also confirmed it is was stepping away from the traditional fashion calendar, as well as other brands such as Burberry, Tom Ford, Vetements, and Paul Smith, who also recently announced its first co-ed show would also take place during Paris Men’s Fashion Week in January.

2019 has been a big year for Kenzo, as Leon and Lim celebrated five years with the brand. This year they have launched a sell-out collaboration with retailer H&M, the first for an LVMH brand, as well as releasing their first perfume ‘Kenzo World’, and they’ve even released two films with writer/directors Sean Baker and Carrie Brownstein.
